Walking the West Highland Way

Although Grasshoppers is in the city centre it is ideally located for hikers seeking a luxurious start and finish to walking the West Highland Way. Arrive at Glasgow Central Station and spend a comfortable night with us before embarking on your journey early next morning from the start of the route at Milngavie.

No need to figure out where Milngavie is! - just get the lift downstairs to Central Station and let the train take you to the start of the route in Glasgow's north-west in around 25 minutes. From Milngavie station you just cross the main road and head for the obelisk in Douglas Street which marks the official start of the route.

After a week of walking when you arrive in Fort William we recommend you take the morning train back to Glasgow Central along the West Highland Line, check in at Grasshoppers on arrival and then spend the rest of the afternoon and evening exploring Glasgow before returning home the next day after a good night's sleep!
