Chose this hotel after reading other reviews. It's on sixth floor of Central Station building. Excellent location for exploring Glasgow. Very modern hotel, room not huge but well laid out. Excellent bedding and extremely friendly staff. As soon as we arrived, we were brought fresh milk and delicious cupcakes which are made by the night staff and available for guests to help themselves to whenever they like. Free bottled water and smarties in the room which was a nice touch. There is some noise from street traffic but this is a factor in most Glasgow hotels. Enjoyed staying here and can recommend it.
The Grasshoppers is on the 6th floor of a building next to Central Station. Very convenient location. We weren't quite sure what was going on when we found a small doorway to the street, walked in, took an elevator to the 6th floor, and found ourselves in a charming, modern, IKEA furnished one-floor hotel. It's so well thought-out, space is limited, but well used. And they don't stint on minor conveniences for the room. We were charmed. We were on the side of the street overlooking the station, and it was quiet (well, except for screeching seagulls, but...). The people couldn't be more friendly and helpful, especially the kitchen crew. Great breakfast, and if you have to leave early, they will get some food put out for you. Such a nice place. Highly recommended. Strong wifi signal; neat plates of cupcakes available at all times; short walk to the major pedestrian walking streets. Large grocery store (with sandwiches, etc.) across the street.
We loved this hotel - super friendly and helpful staff, very comfortable accommodations, clean, bright, IKEA like decor, centrally located, fantastic breakfast. When we checked in one of our suitcases had lost it's handle and the manager bent over backwards to help us fix it and be ready for travel he next day. I would make another reservation here in a heartbeat!!!!
This is a surprise in downtown Glasgow, located on the sixth floor of an office building. I would recommend this hotel to everyone - most comfortable bed we experienced in Scotland, and a great shower. There is parking for 6 pounds/24 hours, which is so much more affordable than the local structures. Located in the heart of downtown, within walking distance of the cathedral and the cemetery, and tons of shopping and restaurants nearby. The actual hotel is sleek and modern, and everything is clean and spotless, the staff is helpful and friendly, and the food is delicious. Dinner is a family-type affair, very cozy. Don't know about breakfast, as we had to leave early (3 am) to get to the Edinburgh airport, but I assume it is similar. The staff baked muffins for us (at 3 am), so we wouldn't leave hungry - can't ask for more than that!
Position could not be better. Lovely and very clean rooms. Some nice touches like the cup cakes on arrival. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Don't be put off by the frontage of the building, the inside could not be more different!
It's not luxury that makes this hotel worth an "Excellent" rating. It's the people that make Grasshopper. The location could not be any better - on the Glasgow Central Station building, and steps away from entertainment. The rooms was comfortable and very clean. The dining room set up is like home, but without having to wash up. The staff members were like family. Sean and Nicole (I hope my memory serves) were marvelous; so helpful. Apologies for spending so much time on your computer.
This hotel represents stellar execution of a slightly different hotel concept.
We have just got home after a two night stay at Grasshoppers. Staff were so friendly and helpful especially Sean, he arranged a swift excellent dry cleaning service. The room was one of cleanest I've ever stayed in, especially shower. Overall excellent and would definitely recommend a stay here. Hopefully we will be back.
My wife and I very much enjoyed a 2 night stay. Building seems odd on arrival , then going up the life in this run down office building, but when you arrive on the 6th floor you Immediately know this is going to be special. Excellent staff. Wonderful breakfast. Rooms are a bit small , but functional. Very modern and updated. Noise from the train station a tiny bit annoying , but not a deal breaker. Would stay again. It's fun.
We really enjoyed our 3 night stay here. The rooms are small and no frills but very comfortable. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the complimentary cupcakes and tea, the great location, and the delicious breakfast.
Don't be put off by the first impressions (hotel is situated on the 6th floor of a somewhat scruffy office building) as this hotel is a gem. It really wasn't what i was expecting but loved it as did my mum.
Rooms great, staff go the extra mile and more, food scrumptious!
